Anyone can learn HTML
There's no age limit to learning html. The truth is that most kids already know more than I do about computers and the Internet. They start using and learning computers as early as K1 which gives them a huge advantage over us old timers. Kids learn much quickly so learning html would be a breeze.
I thought it would be impossible for me to learn how to write html code. Not to mention all the other aspects that accompany building a web site. Imagine how surprised I was when I had a web site up and running in just a few days. Learning on the Internet made it easy for me. I worked when I wanted and as long as I wanted. That's one, if not the major, advantage of learning on the Internet. Going at your own pace.
Exercise the mind
I read in an article recently that learning a new computer language is a great way to exercise the brain and keep your mind sharp. Learning html will definitely keep you on your toes, but, its fun and the satisfaction of accomplishing something you thought was impossible just a few days earlier is priceless.
Kids, build your own blog
Millions of kids use blogs like Myspace.com and Blogspot.com everyday to post "what ever" to the web. All you need to know is how to hunt and peck on a keyboard and you can publish it on the web. But, what if you knew how to build a blog?
Advantages of having your own web site.
- You'll learn Internet technologies that will help with communication skills and it won't hurt your resume' either.
- Building your own blog or web site will give granny something to bragg about to her friends.
- You will improve your writing and grammar skills.
- Start a business.
- Show off your art work or photos.
- Stay connected with friends and family.
- Create a journal and tell the world what you think.
- Showcase your writing. Short stories or even a novel.
- Your spelling will improve from using the spell-check over and over.
- You'll learn how to use the keyboard which, like it or not, will make you a better typist.
- Build a site about your hobbies.
- And then there's the bragging rights for building your own web site.
You're never too young or too old to learn something new. Whether it takes a few days, a month or a year, who cares. Just go for it!
